About Us

Four-Seasons Arts Centre is a federally registered non-profit organization in Ontario. We believe in the power of music and singing as an art to inspire, uplift, and connect communities. We welcome all people especially seniors who have passion for singing to join us.

Our mission is to enrich the cultural and artistic life of various communities in the Richmond Hill and Greater Toronto Area, to cultivate a love of art among people from all walks of life, to improve their basic artistic literacy, and to inherit the spirit of Chinese and Western cultures.

Four Seasons Art Center will form different art groups to serve the community, so that more people can enjoy their life in Canada. 

Professor Dong Hegang is hired as our Instructor, Artistic Director and Choral Conductor. We rehearse year-round every Sunday from 12:45 - 2:45 PM in Richmond Hill.

Artistic Director and Conductor: Professor Dong Hegang

Professor Dong Hegang,   a Chinese-Canadian, is a renowned baritone singer, vocal educator, master's supervisor, member of the National Opera Association of the United States, member of the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers' Associations, and a registered music teacher. He currently holds the position of vocal professor at the China National Opera and Dance Drama Theater Art College. 

Professor Dong Hegang obtained a master's degree in vocal opera performance under the guidance of Dr. Robert Hansen. From 1995 to 2000, he participated in opera productions at the San Francisco Opera and the Santa Fe Opera. He  also served as a judge for the final round of the 13th CCTV Young Singers TV Competition North America Division (San Francisco).

Throughout his over thirty years of teaching vocal music both domestically and internationally, Professor Dong Hegang has trained numerous singers and vocal teachers.

In his teaching, Professor Dong emphasizes the use of scientific vocal techniques. He also makes use of classical Italian songs, Chinese songs, operatic arias, German and Austrian art songs, as well as  contemporary musical theater pieces and works of various styles as teaching materials. He guides students to understand and master the singing characteristics, vocal techniques, and artistic interpretation of different styles of repertoire found in the treasury of vocal art. He particularly emphasizes the accuracy of language in Italian and German songs.

As a professional vocal teacher, Professor Dong Hegang has devoted his entire life to studying and researching vocal pedagogy. He possesses unique insights into vocal techniques and addressing challenging issues for different voice types. His students have greatly benefited from his teachings and have shown significant progress.

Currently, his research topics include the significance of defining the concept of "fuzzy vocal registers" and the theoretical aspects of vocal pedagogy.
